Professor Olugbenga Falode holds M.Sc., and Ph.D. degrees in Petroleum Engineering from University of Ibadan and a post graduate certificate in academic practice from Grenoble Graduate School of Business in France. He is a Senior Lecturer, immediate past Head of the Department of Petroleum Engineering and currently the Deputy Director at the Centre for Petroleum, Energy Economics & Law. He has served in that position since 2011. He teaches and conducts research in Petroleum Engineering and Energy Studies. He is a consultant with broad experience, specializing in oil and gas services, with specialized experience in providing solutions to flow assurance issues in the upstream petroleum industry and has about ten years’ experience in environmentally friendly drilling mud formulations, extensive knowledge of EIA systems, enforcement and technical assessments, monitoring techniques for environmental quality. He has been involved in Manpower Training in Oil and Gas Asset Management, Reservoir Management, Natural Gas Engineering, Corrosion Engineering, Fire & Safety Training, Machinery failure, vibration and maintenance, Refining Process, simulation and Optimization using Aspen HYSYS, Refinery turn around maintenance amongst others. He has published more than 40 scientific papers in referred journals, conference proceedings, books and others but his primary devotion has been to graduate petroleum engineering education. He is an accomplished member of many professional organizations including COREN, Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) etc.

Prior to coming to Ibadan, he worked as a graduate assistant at the chemical engineering Department of Ahmadu Bello University from 1988 to 1989. He worked previously for a mining company in Jos. He is a member of the Board of Directors of Linear Isotherm Energy Resources Limited from 2012 till date. He has served as advisor to many charitable organisations at the University of Ibadan and is currently a member of the University of Ibadan Senate.

Professor Falode received the MacArthur Grant as a visiting researcher at NCSU, US in 2006. He is a recipient of many research awards including the Petroleum Technology Development Fund Award in 2008 and the MacArthur grant award to conduct research on renewable energy in 2010.
